ABOUT KALECHUVEEDU FAMILY
The history of Ettumanoor is primarily drawn from folklore & mythology rather than solid historical facts. Similarly, the history of a Family draws mainly from memories of its elders and stories modified through generations. This is a humble attempt at similarly recording the known history of our Kalechuveedu Family.
The origin of our family is said to be traceable to the historically significant “Aazhvanchery Thamprakkal” lineage. It is thought that some members of Aazhvanchery came to Ettumanoor (being part of British protected state Travancore) during the Mysorean invasion of Malabar, started by Hyder Ali and continued by Tippu (1766 –1792). This escape from atrocities finds a mention on page 508 of the official report made by Col. Fullarton of the British forces stationed in Mangalore at that time.
THE LEGACY
When we retrace our history through memories of our eldest living members, we reach our great great grandmother Kunchiyamma & great great grandfather Nanupillai. These ancestors of ours had five children namely, Gowrikutty (Akkamma), Neelakanthapillai, Parvathi (Parukkutty), Shankarapillai and Lakshmikutty (Kochu Kutty Amma).
